Radonova's international expansion continues with new partner in Portugal

Radonova has signed a new cooperation agreement with Portuguese Radinov, making Radinov Radonova's local partner and dealer in Portugal. Radinov has a long history of working with radiation protection and now expects to expand the business within radon measurements, especially in workplaces. The company is headquartered in Porto.

With a partner and dealer in Portugal, Radonova's expansion continues on the Iberian Peninsula, where Radonova has well-developed collaborations in Spain. With Radinov as a partner, Radonova increases their presence in the region where the issue of radon has increased in recent years. This is largely because of the implementation by Portugal and Spain of the EURATOM BSS, a directive that outlines the basic safety standards for protection against the dangers of radon exposure.

“Portugal and Spain share the same geological conditions in many respects. One thing that separates the countries is that Portugal does not divide the country into different risk areas. Instead, the entire country is considered a risk area and therefore radon measurements are mandatory in all workplaces,” comments José-Luis Gutiérrez Villanueva, Radonova's expert on data analysis and techniques for radon measurement.

“Our business is distinctly global and Radonova currently has customers in over 80 countries. At the same time, we know how important it is to have a local presence and work with driven and talented partners. Each country has its own conditions and needs. In the case of Portugal, for example, it may be that all information relating to workplace measurements must be in Portuguese. With Radinov as a partner, we are in a good position to expand and help another country in the work to limit the harmful effects of radon”, says Karl Nilsson, CEO of Radonova Laboratories.

In addition to the head office in Uppsala, Radonova has local offices in the USA, UK, Germany, France and Norway as well as local partners in many countries.

In October, the European Radon Association (ERA) has its annual event and ROOMS meeting in Madeira. More information is available here»
