On Friday, 16th June 2023, the 61st Annual General Meeting of Schilthorn Cableway Ltd. took place in Mürren, in the presence of 220 shareholders. The company looks back on a successful business year. The current focus is on the construction work on the SCHILTHORNBAHN 20XX project. Daniel Kuster-von Allmen was newly elected to the Board of Directors.

India is growing and booming. All the more the Schilthorn Cableway Ltd. is again dependent on expert support directly from the market. Kunal Kothari is representing the company in the Indian market since the beginning of April. The tourism expert from Mumbai has extensive and long-standing know-how in the European rail travel business.

2020 FINANCIAL YEAR RESULT

After a very promising start, the 2020 financial year at was dominated by the Covid-19 pandemic. As a result, matching the good prior-year figures proved far beyond reach. Both revenue and passenger figures contracted by around 45% in total. The company nevertheless succeeded in generating a positive cash flow. The Board of Directors proposes to forego the payment of a dividend.

2020 FINANCIAL YEAR: DOMINATED BY COVID-19

Schilthorn Cableway Ltd. looks back on a mixed 2020 financial year. A promising start to the year was abruptly interrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic. The company's gastronomy and retail operations were particularly hard hit by the restrictive measures and the absence of guests from abroad.

STECHELBERG - MÜRREN: WORLD'S STEEPEST AERIAL CABLEWAY

Running between Stechelberg and Mürren, the SCHILTHORN CABLEWAY 20XX project will culminate in the steepest aerial cableway in the world. Achieving a maximum gradient exceeding 159%, the new cable car system will transport up to 800 passengers per hour and can carry up to 2.5 tonnes of cargo as underload in regular operation.

PROJECT SCHILTHORN CABLEWAY 20XX - FURTHER MILESTONE REACHED

At the end of April, Schilthorn Cableway Ltd. submitted to the Federal Office of Transport the dossiers for the SCHILTHORN CABLEWAY 20XX planning approval application. This far-reaching project replaces the existing cableway facilities and stations. Construction is expected to commence in spring 2022. A project website has been set up at www.schilthornbahn20xx.ch.

Schilthorn Cableway Ltd is based in Stechelberg and connects the Lauterbrunnen valley from Stechelberg with the car-free mountain villages of Gimmelwald and Mürren, continuing via Birg station to the Schilthorn summit at 2970 m.a.s.l. In front of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, the Schilthorn region offers numerous activities for guests from all over the globe. The Schilthorn acquired international prominence through the filming of the James Bond movie "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" in 1968.
