Berghs School of Communication announces international ambitions for Berlin, Amsterdam and Zurich
The initiative will strengthen Berghs’ presence in some of Europe’s most dynamic creative markets while building a stronger international ecosystem for students, professionals and organisations. Central to the initiative are the capabilities that are becoming increasingly vital as AI transforms the way we work, lead, communicate, and create.
Founded in Stockholm in 1941, Berghs has grown into an internationally recognised school for communication and creativity. Berghs students have a long track record of success in international creative competitions including The One Show, D&AD and Future Lions, while alumni work at some of the world’s most influential agencies and companies. Operating at the intersection of education and the creative industries, Berghs offers full-time programmes for the next generation of creative talent, professional development for industry practitioners, and tailored capability-building programmes for companies.
An important part of Berghs’ long-term strategy is strengthening people’s ability to lead, communicate and mobilise others through complex change. By combining creative thinking, communication and leadership with a clear focus on impact, the goal is to enable more people to drive meaningful change.
The strategy is not about establishing traditional schools in multiple countries. Instead, Berghs is building a flexible model that connects its education and networks with local creative communities, companies, agencies and education partners. Stockholm will remain the school’s base, with Berlin, Amsterdam and Zurich becoming new international hubs. Each city brings distinct strengths: Berlin in technology, start-ups and culture; Amsterdam through its international creative communication scene; and Zurich in innovation, business and leadership.
“Tomorrow’s international education providers do not need a physical campus in every city. We want to connect the best environments, people and expertise. Berghs should be where change is happening, creating education together with the people driving it,” says Camilla Wallander, CEO of Berghs School of Communication.
On October 7, Berghs will host its sixth Unconference:AI, this time in Berlin. The event will take place at Delta Campus in Neukölln, a 12,000 sqm hub for entrepreneurs, growth companies, investors and education providers. The interactive, participant-led format brings together strategists, creatives, entrepreneurs, leaders and AI specialists through parallel talks, workshops and conversations exploring the latest developments in AI. This will be followed by hands-on training sessions in Berlin. In Amsterdam and Zurich, Berghs is also building relationships with local companies, creative communities and education partners, laying the groundwork for future courses and collaborations.
“Internationalisation for us is not primarily about geography. It is about giving people access to more perspectives, capabilities and stronger networks. A stronger international ecosystem will also create more international career opportunities for all of our students,” says Marie Alani, Executive Dean at Berghs School of Communication.
