Seventeen-year-old Yash Narayan has developed an app called DeepWaste, which uses AI algorithms to help classify different types of waste for easier sorting. DeepWaste is the first AI-based mobile app for waste classification, and anyone with a smartphone can use it to mitigate climate impact. Yash is now being recognized for this innovative and accessible app.

She made history when she filed a class action lawsuit in the Federal Court against the country’s Minister for the Environment, Sussan Ley. On May 27, 2021, Australia’s Court of Justice deemed that the Minister now has a “duty of care” attached to its position of power.
The third finalist is Reshma Kosaraju, a 15 year-old from Saratoga, California, USA. In her project, AI against forest fires, Reshma uses AI technology to predict which areas can be affected by forest fires. The jury sees a young entrepreneur with solid research who is attempting to tackle a highly relevant subject such as forest fires, and find modern solutions.

Andra finalisten att presenteras är Fridays for Future Amazonia som med-grundades av 16 åriga Fernanda Barros och består av en grupp unga klimataktivister som kämpar för klimat- och social rättvisa i Amazonas, Brasilien.
