This is the most important time of the year for all wine-makers and is accompanied by lively, if merely symbolic, celebrations – the late and select grapes have not yet been harvested, never mind ice and straw wines.

    Mikulov has kept the tradition of wine harvests for over two centuries. Now the ceremony is called Pálava Wine Harvest. The Mikulov wine harvest has inseparably been linked with one of the major historic events in history of Mikulov. In autumn 1403 the armoured squadron of the Mikulov castle liberated King Wenceslas IV from Vienna prison.
