Live web cast of opera rehearsals in "The Stockholm Cimarosa Project"

Tonight, May 2, at 9:30 PM, the first part of a live web cast in "The Stockholm Cimarosa Project" will be web casted by U-Sophia for the Drottningholms Slottsteater's new opera production "Il matrimonio segreto".

The web cast May 2nd includes a meeting with Stage Director Deda Cristina Colonna and the theater's Artistic Director and Conductor Mark Tatlow.

From the program: "Italian director Deda Cristina Colonna has chosen to interpret the characters' emotions and temperament in color and anatomy, which is also reflected in the imaginative costumes by Ann-Margret Fyregård, recently awarded a medal from king Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden for her work. The music is cheerful with many fine arias and ensembles. The Drottningholm Court Theatre Orchestra is conducted by Mark Tatlow."

In this first on-line interactive meeting, Colonna and Tatlow will discuss: Why again Cimarosa? How important is the Original work, or is it just an excuse for extravagance? Where is Opera going? U-Sophia, a Tel Aviv and New York based web site for learning, art and culture, hosts and documents the making of Il matrimonio segreto (1792) by Domenico Cimarosa at the Drottningholm Court Theatre in collaboration with the University College of Opera in Stockholm. Drottningholms Slottsteater presents the summer 2013 program

The Magic Flute played at Drottningholms Slottsteater this summer

Drottningholms Slottsteater hosts one of the highlights of the Baltic Sea Festival in August. Through a partnership with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Mozart's The Magic Flute will be presented in a fully staged performance created by director Daniel Harding and tenor Andrew Staples. This production was previously presented at the prestigious Lucerne festival in Switzerland.

This year's opera festival at the Drottningholm Court Theatre, outside Stockholm, offers two new opera productions as well as many exciting events, performances and concerts. The two opera productions the coming season are "Il matrimonio segreto" (1792) by Domenico Cimarosa and W.A. Mozart's "La Clemenza di Tito" (1791).

Drottningholm Court Theatre in cooperation with Berwaldhallen and the Baltic Sea Festival

The Drottningholm Court Theatre is participating in the Baltic Sea Festival, this year held August 23-30, as a part of a new collaboration between the concert hall Berwaldhallen and the festival. Sofi Lerström, CEO of Drottningholm Court Theatre, will present the coming projects at the launch breakfast for the Baltic Sea Festival on March 15, at Berwaldhallen concert hall in Stockholm.

Set and costume designer Ann-Margret Fyregård awarded a medal by the King Carl XVI Gustaf

Drottningholm Court Theatre's set designer Ann-Margret Fyregård has been awarded HM The King's Carl XVI Gustaf's Medal of the 8th size of the bright-blue ribbon, for outstanding contributions as a costume and set designer. The medal was awarded at a ceremony in Queen Lovisa Ulrika's dining room at the Royal Palace in Stockholm, on February 7th 2013.

Sångare från Drottningholms Slottsteater medverkar i Early Music Festival

Solisterna från uppsättningen Hemligt äktenskap (Il matrimonio segreto), av Domenico Cimarosa, som spelas på Drottningholms Slottsteater, medverkar under Stockholm Early Music Festival tillsammans med Drottningholmsteaterns orkester under ledning av Mark Tatlow. Konsert torsdagen den 6 juni klockan 21.00 i Tyska kyrkan i Stockholm.

1700-talets mode, arrangerade äktenskap och prinsessbröllop i säsongens operaintroduktioner

I samband med föreställningarna av operan Hemligt äktenskap, Il matrimonio segreto av Cimarosa från 1792, ges en serie öppna operaintroduktioner i Déjeunersalongen. Det kommer bland annat att handla om äktenskap - både frivilliga och ofrivilliga - samt stil och mode på 1700-talet. Serien avslutas med ett samtal om dolda koder i musik och manus. Fri entré.
