The innovative “Save Me Button” lets you take charge of boring meetings - a unique launch by Clarion Hotel

We’ve all been there - participating in a meeting and zoning out, staring at the smartphone hoping the meeting will end. Fact is 37% of employee time is spent in meetings and at the same time 47% consider too many meetings to be the biggest waste of time during the day, according to National Statistics Council. The conference hotel Clarion Hotel ®, which is part of Nordic Choice Hotels, is now launching a solution called the “Save Me Button” that lets you take control of boring meetings.

“We think this is a great example of how new technology can improve traditional conference meetings. As today’s culture changes - so must we, says Jessica Castegren, Head of Marketing & Communication at Clarion Hotel.

Meetings should result in effective agreements and better business, but as both the amount and the time of meetings are increasing - distraction is a fact. Clarion Hotel ® is now launching their first beta version of a method to revive the business meeting - an initiative that offers the ones responsible for booking the meetings a secret weapon to take control of them.

The person that books the meetings is provided with a specially designed and programmed Flic smart button (Flic is a Swedish software innovation that makes functions and applications accessible at the push of a physical button). If boredom strikes during the meeting, rescue is only a Flic click away. However, there are a few options:

  • One click: A little boost of the meeting, Swedish fika or other energy boosts
  • Two clicks: It’s time for the group to wake up for real - a couple of vitamins shots, sparkling bubbles, and sugar bombs nicely packaged with some good music added.
  • Three clicks: For the crazy ones - the ones that really feel like doing something different. Based on customer preference, anything is possible.

Depending on the number of clicks given the Flic button sends a signal to a Flic Hub hidden in the conference room. The Flic Hub its turn sends a signal to the reception’s smartphone asking the staff to secretly prepare an order. Everything happens in secret agreement between Clarion and the one who got the “Save Me Button” from the start.
