UK sees a 13% increase in procurement and supply chain job hires

Jobs in the UK within the procurement and supply chain domain have been 13% more populated in the third quarter of 2017 than that of the previous year, according to information from the latest Robert Walters UK Jobs Index.

The trend of increased jobs in the sector doesn’t come at much of a surprise, considering the recently renewed focus on the global supply chain by many companies across various verticals.

More so than anything, the most sought after positions were mid-level professionals, with IT procurement specialists in demand, reports Supply Chain Digital. (Henderson 2017).

Some expect that this trend has come in preparation of the coming changes, due to the decision of the UK to leave the EU.

Neil Morgan, Associate Director at Robert Walters has given his own input on the increasing job trend within procurement and supply chain.

“Businesses are aware of the significant impact poor supply chain strategies can have on the bottom line and as a result, securing top calibre procurement and supply chain specialists is a high priority. In particular, as businesses prepare to adapt to new conditions following Brexit, supply chain and procurement professionals with an international background are highly sought after.”

Some of these groupings of international professionals are the same people who would be soon asked to leave, would they not find work before Brexit’s legislation takes action. Companies are scrambling to bulk up, in the meanwhile, on competencies within procurement IT, protection systems, and specialists.
