Ethan Hawke receives the Stockholm Achievement Award 2023
We have the great honour to present the Stockholm Achievement Award 2023 to the iconic actor Ethan Hawke. In conjunction with the screening of the film ››Wildcat‹‹ directed by Hawke, which will have its Nordic premiere on November 10th at Skandia, an exclusive Face2Face event featuring Ethan Hawke will be held.
The motivation reads:
Hawke's diversity and deep commitment to his work not only make him one of the most prominent and respected figures in the film industry but also an inspiration to future generations of artists. He continues to explore new territories and constantly challenge himself, and his contributions to film, theater, and literature will be remembered far into the future.
The screening of ››Wildcat‹‹ will have its Nordic premiere during the festival. The film follows the young writer Flannery O'Connor, born and raised in Georgia, USA, in 1925. ››Wildcat‹‹ provides a portrait of a complicated individual and explores her inner conflicts as a gifted woman, trying to publish her first novel, in a male-dominated world. O'Connor is portrayed by no less than Ethan's daughter, Maya Hawke (Stranger Things, Little Women).
However, Hawke is not limited to acting alone. He has explored other areas within film and theatre, both as a director and writer. He has directed and written screenplays for several films, including "Chelsea Walls" (2001) and "The Hottest State" (2006), the latter based on his own novel of the same name.
