This year, the Stockholm International Film Festival shows 130 films from 50 different countries, of which 14 have been chosen as submissions for best international film at the Academy Awards. Films will be screened both in cinemas and digitally via Festival on Demand.

Ukraine is this year's focus country, and we are presenting a full program including seven films, digital interviews with Ukrainian filmmakers, Works in Progress and panel discussions. Among the Ukrainian films that the festival has chosen to highlight are Ukraine's Oscar entry Klondike as well as Rising Fury, Freedom on Fire, Mariupolis 2, The Kiev Trial, How is Katia? and Butterfly Vision.

To raise awareness for the children of Ukraine, the Stockholm International Film Festival has made the 397-minute long film тиша (Silence), where each minute represents a child killed in the war. The film will be shown as a manifestation at Norrmalmstorg in Stockholm on Monday November 7 between 3:00 pm and 10:00 pm. Amanda Lind, chairman of the culture committee and former minister of culture, and Paulina Brandberg, Minister of Gender Equality will attend the screening. All proceeds collected will go directly to UNICEF.

The Stockholm Visionary Award 2022 is awarded to the multiple award-winning British film and stage director Sam Mendes, who is visiting Stockholm in connection with the Nordic premiere of the film Empire of Light during the Stockholm Film Festival. On Friday, November 11 at 6.00 pm, Mendes will come to Biograf Skandia in Stockholm to receive the Bronze Horse and participate in a Face2Face moderated by film critic Jakob Åsell.
