ENDEX Nordic Pine 23!

Today the last part of the NATO exercise Nordic Pine 23 took place at RISE facilities in Gothenburg.

Nordic Pine is an annual NATO-exercise that is focused on hybrid threats to renewable energy systems. There is an urgency to establish sufficient security levels in the renewable energy systems since they will become a larger part of the energy mix than maybe predicted a decade ago.

It is obvious that different antagonists are using supply chains as a leverage factor geopolitically, besides the legitimate competition. Therefore, the last part of the exercise covered these types of threats, risks, and vulnerabilities.

As usual the first part of the table-top exercise consisted of an academic seminar where Professor Mikael Lind, Chalmers Institute of Technology, presented the concept of the “Virtual Watchtower”.

Cecilia Wasterlid held a topical lecture about metals and minerals that are critical for e.g. the battery industry.

The training audience consisted of a broad spectrum of participant from both public and private sector, both in Finland and Sweden. The exercise was conducted physically on site in Gothenburg and remotely online.

The purpose of the exercise is to provide a model or template for the TA participants to use in their own organizations. Another overarching objective is to further cooperation between the Nordic and Baltic countries.

- It is with great pleasure that I ascertain the completion of this years exercise, says Freddy Jönsson Hanberg, Exercise Director.

Johan Granberg has been Chief Response Cell Supply Chain and Joakim Robertsson was responsible for Exercise Evaluation.

The exercise and the conclusions from it will be presented at the Hanaholmen Initiative Summit in Esbo the 7th of November.
