Freddy Jönsson Hanberg appointed to lead NATO STO SAS-191

Freddy Jönsson Hanberg, Chairman of the Board at the Swedish Total Defence Foundation, was today appointed by the SAS Panel at NATO Science & Technology Organization, to lead SAS-191.

At its 52nd Panel Business Meeting, the Panel endorsed, for Board approval, the Research Technical Course titled Nordic Pine 2024: Hybrid Threats to Renewable Energy Systems (reference SAS-191) for the duration of 3 years. The following nations/organizations are committed at this moment: DEU, HRV, DNK, SWE, CAN and FIN. The activity is overseen by the SAS Panel and supported by the SAS Panel Office.

The exercise, Nordic Pine 24, will take place in September 2024 and will be coordinated with NATO ENSEC CoE exercise "Coherent Resilience", if applicable.

    Today at Nordic Pine 23 the training audience at the Esbo and Karlstad sites were engaged in the malign influence exercise lead by the Chief Response Cell, Carl Heath from RISE.

    Today was ”Cyber Day” during the exercise Nordic Pine 23. The training audience on site at VTT in Esbo were put in difficult situations where they were challenged with threats and incidents forcing them to act in their different roles.

    Since the silent procedure ended the 12th of January, it is now official that the 24th of November, the NATO Science & Technology Board decided to formalize SAS-191, the research technical course that will be the vehicle for the exercise Nordic Pine. Freddy Jönsson Hanberg was appointed to lead SAS-191.
