90% of all lower secondary school pupils in Sweden are interested in technology. But that figure drops to 40% among girls and 70% among boys by the time they reach upper secondary school. There is already a shortfall of engineers today, and if nothing is done, this will continue to grow in the future. A bleak outlook for a technology consultancy company like Sigma and a pressing issue for us as well as the entire industry.
That’s why they asked Third Ear Studio and journalist Josefin Patzauer to investigate why the young are turning away from technology disappears to and why it declines. The result?

An investigative podcast documentary in three episodes that, in an engaging and curious manner, seeks to understand why young people, especially girls, lose interest in technology during upper secondary school.

Tomorrow is Midsummer, perhaps Swedens biggest and most important holiday.
There are therefore a few things that must be handled properly, with care and in accordance with tradition. Sill and potatoes etc. for the adults, “prinskorv” and meatballs for the little ones. Strawberries for everyone. Jump around like little frogs. Prepare for rain, hope for sunshine.

And when it comes to the maypole… don’t cut any corners, be thorough. Check the measurements, the angles, and the proportions. If the children are to be involved, let it be when it’s time to decorate it. Promise that! 🫡

We wish you a wonderful Midsummer, the most Swedish and least “lagom” of all holidays. Happy Midsummer! 🌸☀️

Meet one of our experts for a better tomorrow – mechanical engineer Robin Mattsson. His expertise is invaluable in building factories for high-voltage cable production, playing a key role in developing infrastructure for power transmission. Working at Sigma Industry Development, Robin’s current project is to develop and prepare a new high-voltage cable factory in Taiwan. ⚡️

”Without these cables, there’s no green transition. So, I really feel like I’m contributing to a better tomorrow,” Robin says when asked about his role in securing cleaner, more efficient energy supply. 🌿
