This year, ventilation issues will have an even more expanded role at Nordbygg, when the industry organisation Svensk Ventilation (Swedish Ventilation) comes together with Svensk Automation (Swedish Automation) on the new stage - The Indoor Climate Arena.
This year’s Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, the world’s leading meeting place for Scandinavian design, will be held on February 4–8. The issue of sustainability is a clear presence in the designs, material choices and production processes of many exhibitors this year.
Architects, designers and journalists from all over the world will be coming to Stockholm to attend Stockholm Design Week and Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, February 3-9. With the fair being the hub Stockholm will be buzzing with almost 200 design events, exhibitions and parties.
Formex has established the Formex Nova award – Nordic Designer of the Year, to promote high quality Nordic design created by a still relatively unknown designer working in the Nordic interior design industry. A jury appoints the nominees for the award. The winner will be presented August 18.
Design studio Doshi Levien is the Guest of Honour at Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair 2020. With their exhibition in the Entrance Hall, the Indian-British designers aim to give visitors an insight into their creative process, revealing for the very first time, their drawings and prototypes side by side with production pieces.
February 2020 marks the arrival of the 70th Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair. The occasion will be celebrated with an exhibition showcasing design classics from the 1950s to the present day, all of which have maintained their ongoing relevance – despite hot trends and new launches – by still being in production.

Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair will feature the exhibition Re-defining the Office, about what it will take to keep the workplace relevant in a cloud-based reality. The exhibition is curated and designed by architecture firm Tengbom, which has over 10 years’ experience in office design.
On April 21, 2020, the doors to the housing and construction industry’s foremost meeting place in the Nordics will open. At Formex on January 14–17, 2020 the focus will be on the challenges faced by retailers when the international trend and content agency Carlin takes over Stockholmsmässan’s Entrance Hall with their Retail Hub exhibition. The experimental design duo Wang & Söderström are taking charge of the Greenhouse area at Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, February 4–8, 2020 – providing the Nordic region’s leading arena for up- and coming designers a suitable setting: – Our ambition is to create an environment that merges the futuristic and the contemporary, the digital and the physical, explain Anny Wang and Tim Söderström.
With a little over six months until Nordbygg 2020, the preparations for the most important fair for the construction and housing industry are well under way. The program is continuously expanded and the exhibition area is 93 per cent booked.
Genre-defying designer Fredrik Paulsen has been commissioned to create the Design Bar for Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, February 4–8, 2020. The menu this time round will be composed by chefs Marion Ringborg and Linn Söderström from pop-up restaurant Garba.
Christian Clemens has been named the new CEO of Stockholmsmässan. Christian most recently held the position of CEO for the airline BRA, Braathens Regional Airlines. He will take over as head of Stockholmsmässan in January 2020.
Preparations for Nordbygg 2020 are in full swing and the goal is at least a big a success as the fair in 2018 was.
As this year’s Guest of Honour the London-based studio Doshi Levien has been commissioned to create an installation for Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair in February. Run by Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien, the studio has an international reputation for combining culture, technology, industrial design and true craftsmanship.
