Dulux Trade becomes first major UK paint brand to launch recycled paint.

Re-claimed, re-engineered - recycled paint

Dulux Trade becomes first major UK paint brand to launch recycled paint.

As part of its ongoing commitment to reducing the impact of paint on the environment, experts at Dulux Trade have created a ground-breaking matt emulsion made from 35 percent recycled paint.

The market leaders have developed Evolve, a revolutionary product made from the leftover paint that remains in tins after use, in a bid to reduce the amount of paint going to waste.

To create Dulux Trade Evolve, the brand has partnered with waste management expert Veolia, to extract and reprocess unused whitepaint from tins at its recycling centres.

The paint is refined and filtered before being transported to a manufacturing facility where it is combined with new paint, re-engineered and tested extensively, ensuring that every tin on sale maintains the high standards expected of Dulux Trade.

In doing so, Dulux Trade has reduced the carbon footprint of each litre of Evolve paint produced by more than 10 percent*.

The resulting product offers a beautiful white matt finish, perfect for interior walls across a wide range of projects.

Paul Murgett, Sustainability Manager at Dulux Trade, said: “With over 700 million litres of paint being sold every year**, millions of litres of unused paint are put into landfill or incinerated.

“Evolve, developed as a result of years of investment, hard work and commitment to improve our sustainable offering, is the first step towards reducing this quantity.

“A dedicated team of experts have been working behind the scenes to develop this product - which is as quality driven as it is sustainable.

“By introducing Evolve, we will help to reduce the carbon footprint of our Dulux Trade products, and help our customers reach their sustainability goals too.”

Dulux Trade Evolve Matt has been five years in the making and not only underwent rigorous testing by research and development experts, but it was also blind tested by decorators and painting contractors, as well as successful small scale trials with the Co-op and Waitrose & Partners, among others.

The launch of this new paint is just one step on a journey Dulux Trade is taking towards meeting sustainability targets and helping to close the loop on paint waste.

Evolve is available in white only at present and will be available from late October 2019. Find out more at www.duluxtrade.co.uk/evolve.
