Arla’s flagship dairy at Stourton, Leeds, has added two more product ranges to its added value portfolio, following the commercial start up of custard and flavoured milk at its £70 million state of the art facility.
Arla Foods’ colleagues accessed more than £26,000 to support over 40 local community projects in 2010, taking its support for charitable causes to almost £80,000 in three years.
It already boasts the lightest polybottle portfolio in the industry, but Arla has sets its sights on reducing the weight of its polybottles by a further 15-20 per cent.
Arla is kicking off 2011 by raising its corporate profile and spreading the message about its Closer to Nature ambitions. As part of its mission, the company is launching a campaign to encourage more children to enjoy the great outdoors, called Kids Closer to Nature, which begins this month.
The Scandinavian company Arla Foods amba and the Northern Germany-based Hansa-Milch eG are considering merging. Representatives of the two dairy cooperatives are already engaged in talks. A decision by the cooperative members as to whether the merger is to come about will be taken in early March 2011.
In a drive to reduce carbon throughout its operations and support its ambition of being Closer to Nature, Arla Foods is the first dairy processor to include not only its own operations but also those of its supplying members of Arla Foods Milk Partnership in its new environmental strategy.
