Update: Traffic disruption - Bury New Road, Prestwich

Bury Council and United Utilities’ engineers have now determined that the hole under Bury New Road in Prestwich is as a result of a collapsed sewer. The hole has been temporarily filled to stabilise the sides. United Utilities will now take over the site and undertake further investigations prior to any further work to deliver a permanent solution.

At this stage Bury New Road will remain open with a reduction to one lane at the traffic lights.
