85 – and still in the market!

Come rain or shine, Gerald Yaffe has been keeping customers happy on Bury’s award-winning market since 1966.

Gerald has just celebrated his 85th birthday, and his colleagues and market managers have been helping him to celebrate this milestone.

The veteran trader has run a highly successful quality coat and rainwear business on the market’s Georgiana Block, which is situated on what fellow traders refer to as the “Golden Mile”. This area of the market runs directly from the car parks to the shopping centre and is regarded as a premier location from which to trade.

Markets manager Andrew Heyes said: “Gerald is a great fellow and it’s a fantastic achievement to have been trading on Bury Market for 47 years. We all wish him the very best and many more birthdays to come.”
