Applications open for new £40,000 Bury Culture Fund
Community organisations across Bury are being invited to apply for a share of £40,000 through the new Bury Culture Fund, a grants
programme to support community-led arts, culture and heritage activities across the Bury borough.
Funded through the Greater Manchester Economic Development & Regeneration Flexible Grants (EDRFG) programme, the fund will
support voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations to deliver projects that increase participation in culture,
strengthen communities, and celebrate Bury's rich and diverse heritage.
Flexible grants of up to £5,000 are available, with awards tailored to project need, enabling a wide range of creative ideas and community initiatives to come to life.
Councillor Gavin McGill, Cabinet Member for Culture, Economy and Skills, said:
"Bury has a vibrant cultural sector and an incredible network of community organisations that bring people together through creativity, heritage and shared experiences. The Bury Culture Fund will help local groups develop and deliver projects that enrich our communities, increase participation in cultural activity and celebrate what makes our borough special. I would encourage eligible organisations to apply and take advantage of this opportunity."

• Projects aligned with the Stories, Skills, Strength, Space and Support priorities of the Bury Culture Strategy
• Inclusive activities that engage local people and encourage participation
• Projects that promote civic pride, wellbeing and community connection
Priority will be given to projects that:
• Are led by local organisations and creatives
• Increase participation in cultural activity
• Support underrepresented or disadvantaged communities
• Encourage volunteering and community engagement
Who can apply?
Applications are open to:
• Voluntary and community groups
• Charities and social enterprises
• Faith groups
• Other eligible local organisations
All funded activity must be delivered within Bury and be free for participants to access.
Key dates
• Application deadline: 17 August 2026
• Funding decisions announced: September 2026
• Project delivery period: September 2026 to February 2027
• Monitoring deadline: 19 March 2027
Applicants should ensure proposed projects are realistic and can be fully delivered within the six-month delivery period.
