More than 40,000 votes were cast by members of the public in this year’s vote, organised by the National Association of British Market Authorities (NABMA) as part of the Great British Market Awards 2025.
The Top 10 markets (in alphabetical order) are:
- Bury Market
- Chelmsford Indoor Market
- Market Drayton Market
- Nantwich Indoor & Outdoor Market
- Oxford Covered Market
- Pontypridd Market
- Shrewsbury Indoor Market
- South Molton Country Pannier Market
- Swansea Indoor Market
- Tavistock Pannier Indoor Market
The next phase involves evaluation by a panel of industry experts, who will decide which market takes the coveted title of Britain’s Favourite Market 2025.
The winner will be announced at the NABMA January Conference in Birmingham on 30 January 2025, alongside other Great British Market Award winners.
Councillor Charlotte Morris, cabinet member for culture and the economy, said: “We all know how hugely popular Bury Market is, both with locals and visitors from across the land.
“Fingers crossed that our famous and historic market triumphs and brings home yet another national and prestigious award.
“We’re investing millions of pounds in the future of the market, with the flexi hall and a new roof on the outdoor market, which will ensure it thrives in our town centre for decades to come.”
