Important dates for May’s local elections

There are a few important dates for residents to remember in the run-up to the Bury Council elections on 3 May.

  • If you want to stand as a candidate, the deadline is 4pm on Friday 6 April.
  • The latest you can register to vote is 17 April.
  • If you want a postal vote, you must request one by 5pm on 18 April.
  • The deadline for requesting a proxy vote, where someone else votes on your behalf, is 5pm on 25 April.

One third of the 51 council seats are up for election in the 3 May poll.
