Press release -

Libraries are open for community groups – and out-of-hours too

Community groups are being invited to make more use of libraries for their events and meetings.

Arrangements are now in place for rooms to be rented in the evenings and weekends, with groups allowed to let themselves in.

Rooms can be hired at all four borough libraries, during library opening hours and at other times by arrangement. All branches have accessible facilities and access to Wi-Fi and IT.

Groups and organisations that are interested in using these facilities should contact their local library at https://www.bury.gov.uk/findalibrary

Councillor Richard Gold, cabinet member for communities, said: “Our libraries offer a wide range of activities for local community groups, and we want to ensure that they have access to them when they need it. Even if the library is closed, we now have arrangements in place for groups to open them up for their meeting or activity.”

You can keep up to date with all library activities through their social media accounts on Twitter www.twitter.com/burylibrariesand on Facebook at www.facebook.com/burylibraries.
