More Fixed Penalty Notices issued to fly-tippers
Bury Council has issued six further fines to people who illegally dumped waste in our borough.
Four fixed penalty notices of £1,600 (£400 each) were issued for fly-tipping offences at Eton Hill Road, Radcliffe, Walmersley Road and Chesham Fold, Bury. A Commercial Duty of Care fixed penalty notice (£300) was also issued at Chesham Fold. A further littering fixed penalty notice (£75) was issued at Rochdale Road, Bury.
Over the last several months we have issued:
- 19 Fly Tipping FPNs.
- 6 Littering FPNs.
Working in partnership with Bury’s Control Room, Housing, Environmental Services and Neighbourhoods teams, our Environmental Enforcement Officers use intelligence gathered across services to identify offenders, collect evidence and assist with investigations.
Through this collaborative approach and the sharing of information and resources, we are tackling fly-tipping and other environmental offences that negatively impact local communities and the environment. CCTV footage, vehicle information and intelligence from partner agencies are all used to help identify those responsible, enabling enforcement action to be taken, including Fixed Penalty Notices, cautions and prosecutions.
This joined-up way of working is delivering positive results and sends a clear message that environmental crime will not be tolerated in Bury.
Residents also have access to 21 recycling centres across Greater Manchester, including two in Bury, where waste can be disposed of free of charge.

If using someone to dispose of their waste, residents should ask them for their address and telephone number, their waste carrier licence, and ask where their waste will be taken to.
