Primary School Placements 2023

Over 91% of Bury primary pupils will attend their first choice of primary school.

In 2022, 97% of Bury children were offered their preferred second and first place which remains level with 2023’s 97% acceptance rate for first and second choices.

A total of 2,109 applicants from Bury residents have been offered a place at primary schools across the borough.

This percentage demonstrates Bury’s schools continuing to provide high quality education for children across the borough.

Reception Allocations September 2023

2109 applications from Bury residents, places have been allocated as follows:

1st preference offers – 1923 (91.2%)

2nd preference offers – 118 (5.6%)

3rd preference offers – 24 (1.1%)

Reception Allocations September 2022

2063 applications from Bury residents places have been allocated as follows:

  • 1st preference offers – 1950 (94.5%)
  • 2nd preference offers – 64 (3%)
  • 3rd preference offers – 17 (1%)

Isobel Booler, director of education and skills at Bury Council, said: I am happy to report that over 91% of primary pupils will be heading to their school of choice in September. It is indeed an exciting time for our young children to begin their school career and a credit to the local schools across the borough for continuing to work hard to provide the best education for our children. I wish all the best to new pupils starting in September at their school of choice
