Press release

Temporary one-day closure of Prestwich Library on Sunday 14 June

The Library Team at Bury Council is advising customers that Prestwich Library will be temporarily closed on Sunday 14 June between 9.30am and 1pm due to the Prestwich Carnival taking place in St Mary’s Park.

The decision has been made in partnership with carnival organisers, as the event is expected to attract high visitor numbers, with road closures and restricted access in place around the park and the Phoenix Centre. These arrangements may make it difficult for both customers and staff to safely access the library during this time.

To ensure continued access to library services, Radcliffe Library will be open from 9.30am to 1pm on Sunday, 14 June as an alternative provision. Radcliffe Library is the nearest and most accessible location for Prestwich residents, and staff will be on hand to provide a full range of services as normal.

Customers can also continue to access a wide range of digital services, including eBooks, eAudio and online resources, via the library website at www.bury.gov.uk/libraries

Bury Council would like to thank customers for their understanding and hope everyone enjoys the Prestwich Carnival.

Prestwich Library recently re-opened after relocating from the Longfield Centre ahead of its demolition. In the future, the library will move back to Prestwich Village as part of the £100 million redevelopment of the Longfield Centre.
