Thousands set to take on the Bury BID 10K as running festival returns this September

The countdown is on for the return of the Bury Running Festival, with thousands of runners set to take to the town's streets on Sunday 20 September 2026 for the Bury BID 10K and Mini and Junior events.

Organised by Jane Tomlinson's Run For All, in partnership with Bury Council and title sponsor Bury BID, the festival will once again bring together runners of all ages and abilities for a celebration of fitness, community and fundraising.

Starting and finishing outside The Rock Shopping Centre, the 10K route takes participants through Tottington and along Bury Road before joining the Kirklees Trail and heading back towards the town centre. The event is designed to be accessible to everyone, from experienced runners chasing a personal best to those taking on their first ever race.

The excitement continues with the popular Mini and Junior races, giving young runners the chance to experience race day for themselves. Children aged 3 to 8 can take part in the 1.5K Mini event alongside a parent or guardian, while those aged 9 to 14 can tackle the 2.5K Junior route.

This year marks the third consecutive year of support from title sponsor Bury BID, continuing a successful partnership with Run For All and Bury Council that encourages local people to get active and engage with their community. The event is also expected to provide a welcome boost to the local economy by attracting participants and spectators into the town centre.

As with all Run For All events, the Bury BID 10K provides an opportunity for participants to raise money for causes close to their hearts, including the event's official charity partners: Backup, Bury Football Club, Jigsaw and the Jane Tomlinson Appeal.

About Run for All

Run For All is part of Jane Tomlinson CBE’s lasting legacy. Jane raised £1.85m for children’s and cancer charities before her untimely death from cancer aged just 43 in 2007.
