Whitefield welcomes Bury's first Live Well Centre, where communities and wellbeing come together

Join us on Sunday 16 August 2026 at the Whitefield Live Well Centre for a free family fun day. Meet local organisations, enjoy family-friendly activities, explore the new facilities and find out how the centre can support you and your family. Everyone is welcome.

Bury Council and Bury VCFA will join residents, community organisations and local partners to celebrate the opening of the borough's first Live Well Centre in Whitefield.

The launch marks a major milestone for Bury's Live Well programme, with Whitefield becoming the first neighbourhood in the borough to open a dedicated Live Well Centre. Designed to offer friendly, local support, the centre will bring together services, advice and community activity under one roof, helping people access the support they need closer to home.

The official opening will take place on Sunday 16 August at the new Live Well Centre on Albert Road, Whitefield.

The event will feature face-painting, balloon models, green activities with Lancashire Wildlife Trust, rock animals, virtual reality taster sessions, free bike repairs and balance bikes, Museum of Curiosity with Jess and Oliver from The League of Curiosity, plus more to be confirmed, alongside opportunities to meet local organisations, learn about support available in the area and explore the new facility.

Visitors will also be able to find out about employment support, digital inclusion, volunteering opportunities and other community services.

The event will celebrate the opening of Our Place, a new café based within the centre. Managed by Persona Care & Support, the café will offer a range of healthy, affordable meals and hot drinks in a welcoming community setting. The café will be open at the opening event and then Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 2.30pm.

Following the launch event, the centre will become home to a wide range of services and activities delivered by local voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations. As the offer develops, it will continue to respond to local needs, creating more opportunities for people to connect, build skills and improve their wellbeing.

Live Well forms part of Greater Manchester's ambition to provide great everyday support in every neighbourhood. The Live Well approach brings public services, community organisations and residents together, focusing on prevention, early support and reducing inequalities.
