Win a £10 book token in this month’s library quiz

Bury libraries are offering members another chance to win a £10 book token in their latest monthly quiz.

The deadline for the July quizisnoon on Friday 24 July, and the winner of the book token will be notified by email. Last month’s winner was Mrs K. Brazzill of Whitefield.

The quiz aims to highlight the online resources now available through the library service, whether at the libraries themselves or from home. By using these resources, from the Encyclopaedia Britannica to the Oxford English Dictionary, members should find it easy to answer the questions!

1. Arabella Churchill, grand-daughter of Sir Winston Churchill, co-founded which iconic summertime festival? (Clue: try searching Oxford Dictionary of National Biography)

2. Can you find an image of the Parish Church of All Saints, Whitefield, using Britannica 14+? If so, cut and paste the website address of the page which hosts the image as your answer. (Clue: the website address should start with http://library.eb.co.uk)

3. Can you find an image of Van Gogh's Sunflowers using Oxford Art Online? If so, cut and paste the website address of the page which hosts the image as your answer. (Clue: the website address should start with http://www.oxfordartonline.com/)

4. Which word came first, astronomy or astrology? (Clue: look for the earliest quotation dates using the Oxford English Dictionary)

5. What is an afterglow? (Clue: try searching the Oxford Reference Encyclopaedia)

6. Which jazz musician, initials J.C, did his own version of the song My Favourite Things? (Clue: try searching Oxford Music Online)
