It’s been a dream start to the winter in Norway and Sweden, with all five of SkiStar’s award-winning Scandinavian resorts now open for skiing. Perfect conditions, with heavy snow, cold weather and a snow depth of 30cm-88cm, promise a memorable season ahead as snow continues to fall in Sälen, Trysil, Åre, Vemdalen and Hemsedal.
Sälen, SkiStar’s flagship resort, has been named Sweden’s Best Ski Resort at the prestigious World Ski Awards in Kitsbühel. Sälen’s Hotel Bügelhof won Sweden’s Best Ski Hotel while the ever-popular Radisson Blu Resort in the SkiStar resort of Trysil was declared Norway’s Best Ski Hotel.
170 days of skiing await as Åre, Trysil, Vemdalen and Hemsedal welcome guests, with Sälen to follow. SkiStar’s winter season gets off to a glorious early start this weekend with Åre, Trysil and Vemdalen all officially opening on Friday November 15, with a historic first for Åre.
This Friday (Nov 8) marks 50 days until the first flight from the UK touches down at the brand new Scandinavian Mountains Airport in Sweden. Europe’s most convenient ski flight takes just two hours from London Heathrow with bus transfers to the hugely popular resort of Sälen in Sweden in as little as 10 minutes. Award-winning Trysil, just over the border in Norway, is only 40 minutes away.
The Ski Club of Great Britain has publicised its seventh annual national survey looking into the habits and future plans of the UK’s snowsport community. The survey results were delivered at a presentation on Thursday 10th Octoberin London before the findings being made public to all those interested in the current trends.
We have yet another excellent financial year to look back on. Compared with the previous year, it is worth noting that last year’s weather conditions were fantastic, enabling us to increase the number of skier days by a massive 7.5 percent. Considering this, we are very pleased with this year’s results too!
