Seven Steps to The Seventh

The seventh hole here at Stoke Park is renowned for being tricky, it inspired the 15th Hole at Augusta and we’ve asked our Golf Pro – Stuart Rank to talk us through what he thinks are the most crucial steps to achieving a good shot on our 7th.

  1.  Always make sure you check the distance and be precise.
  2. Check the conditions as it will determine what club you choose to play with.
  3. Choose your type of shot, a high and hard hit iron can be too much and it will make a splash in to the lake so play an extra club and control your swing length.
  4. Tee up on the right, this allows you to play away from the water and aim for the largest part of the green.
  5. Choose your club and commit to your choice of shot.
  6. Pre-shot routine is vital, visualise the shot, breathe deeply then exhale as you enter the shot.
  7. Always read a little more into the putt and aim to drop the ball in from the high side otherwise it might not stop rolling.
