Captain Benny inducted as full member of the Honourable Company of Master Mariners

V.Group’s Kiran Benny has been inducted as a full member of the livery of the Honourable Company Of Master Mariners (HCMM), a City of London Livery Company, which holds the Royal Charter with Her Majesty The Queen as patron and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh holding the position of Admiral of the Company.

Operating from HQS Wellington, docked in the River Thames, full members such as Captain Benny are granted, upon taking the oath, the Freedom of the City of London. This position gives longstanding historic privileges and has also been awarded to eminent personalities such as Lord Nelson, HRH The Princess of Wales, Nelson Mandela and Stephen Hawking to name a few.

In his role as a full member of the livery, Captain Benny, is now authorised to officially mentor apprentices and has been selected to mentor two cadets in Glasgow.

“It’s a huge honour and privilege for me as a master mariner representing V.Group to be able to share my skills and experience through mentoring cadets living in the UK and of particular pride my home city of Glasgow,” says Captain Benny.

This award recognises V.Group’s commitment to the development of the next generation of seafarers. Captain Benny now has the opportunity to share his 21 years of sailing experience, which includes nine years in command, to the promising young cadets of Glasgow and the entire UK if called upon to do so.
