Statement from Visa

CenturyLink confirmed at 4.12PM BST that it had resolved an issue which caused widespread, global internet issues impacting many services earlier today. As a result, some Visa cardholders may have experienced issues using their Visa cards. [TIME: 16:35 BST, 30th August 2020]

Visa is aware of a service disruption reported by CenturyLink, a third-party service provider, which is causing widespread, global internet issues, and impacting many services. As a result, some Visa cardholders may be unable to make payments. We are working with our partners to investigate and mitigate the impact on cardholders wherever possible. [TIME: 15:53 BST, 30th August 2020]
