Three linear chains are connected to form a star polymer.

Three linear chains are connected to form a star polymer. The stars intertwine and entangle with each other, resulting in extremely slow motion, even at room temperature where random fluctuations rattle these molecules around. With a new, 100 times faster algorithm, the full star trajectory is now accessible. The path taken by the branch point (yellow dot) is discovered to be like a Matryoshka doll of random walks nested in one another, five levels deep.
