Press release -
Olof Rudbeck Day with focus on AI in care and health
What are the opportunities of using AI in healthcare? And what potential risks does it entail? These issues will be discussed during the Olof Rudbeck Day on 18 October. This year’s Rudbeck Prize winner, Ulf Gyllensten, will also give a lecture on his research into gynaecological cancer.
Artificial intelligence is playing an increasing major role in many areas of our society. This year's theme for the Olof Rudbeck Day 2024 is the opportunities and risks of AI in the fields of care and health. This key issue will be raised and explored in various panel discussions with docents and professors.

The Olof Rudbeck Prize
The day ends with the presentation of the Olof Rudbeck Prize, which this year goes to Ulf Gyllensten, Professor of Medical Molecular Genetics at the Department of Immunology, Genetics and Pathology. He will discuss his research in connection with the presentation. Through basic genetic studies of cervical cancer, his research has led to the development of home testing kits used to screen for this disease. He is also researching the genetics behind other gynaecological cancers. Together with Professor Marie Allen, Gyllensten has also pioneered the possibility of analysing DNA in the context of criminal investigations.
