Press invitation: Dag Hammarskjöld Lecture with Amina J. Mohammed

On 23 February the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Amina J Mohammed, will give the Dag Hammarskjöld lecture in Uppsala. The lecture is open to the public.

The Dag Hammarskjöld lecture is an annual event held in memory of Dag Hammarskjöld, the second Secretary-General of the United Nations, and the values for which he stood in his work: compassion, humanism and international solidarity and collaboration.

Amina J Mohammed is the UN’s Deputy Secretary-General and Chair of the United Nations Sustainable Development Group. She was the driving force behind the 2030 Agenda and the Global Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the UN General Assembly in 2015. Before her UN assignment, she was Nigeria’s Minister of Environment, a role through which she led initiatives for climate measures and programmes to protect the natural environment.

Mohammed’s lecture is entitled: “Strength in our common humanity”.

Time: 23 February, 17:00 – approx. 18:00
Venue:
The Grand Auditorium, Biskopsgatan 3, Uppsala.
The lecture and subsequent discussion will be held in English. The event will be live-streamed on the Uppsala University website.

A short memorial ceremony will be held in connection with the lectures at Dag Hammarskjöld’s grave.
