The Rufous-naped Lark
The Rufous-naped Lark Corypha africana usually sings from a low perch, such as a small bush or termite mound. It raises its crown feathers to expose the reddish-brown bases of the feathers that have given the species its name (though when the “crest” is down, no or very little reddish-brown is visible, making the bird better camouflaged in the vegetation). Sometimes it flutters its wings quickly.
