Lostboyslab - Print Smarter. Leave No Footprint. – making carbon footprint reporting mandatory for all 3D printed parts
In a pioneering move for the additive manufacturing industry, Lostboyslab AB announces that, beginning in 2026, every 3D printed part produced by its 3D printing factories will include a verified carbon footprint assessment, calculated according to ISO 14067:2018 (Cradle to Gate) and published in a Digital Product Passport (DPP).
This initiative, branded under the slogan “Print Smarter. Leave No Footprint.”, establishes a new sustainability baseline for industrial 3D printing — combining automation, digital traceability, and verified environmental data.
Mandatory carbon footprint for every print
Each print job will automatically generate a CO₂ Footprint Report showing the total greenhouse gas emissions associated with:
Material consumption
Machine energy use
Printing process time
Local production conditions
The report quantifies emissions as kg CO₂e per part, following international LCA standards (ISO 14067) and verified through Lostboyslab’s internal calculation engine.
Digital Product Passport integration
Every part will be issued a Digital Product Passport (DPP) hosted in the whatt.io platform.
The DPP includes:
The CO₂ Footprint Report
Technical specifications
Material and process data
Timestamped production traceability
Each DPP is accessible via a QR code printed directly on the physical part’s label or included in its digital documentation — allowing customers, partners, and auditors to instantly verify environmental data.
Transparency and responsibility
“We can’t talk about sustainability without measurement,” says Stefan Larsson, founder and CEO of Lostboyslab.
“From 2026, every printed part that leaves our factory carries its climate data with it — visible, verifiable, and digital. This isn’t a marketing add-on; it’s a responsibility built into our production DNA.”
The industry’s next standard
The “Print Smarter. Leave No Footprint.” initiative marks one of the first complete integrations of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Digital Product Passport (DPP) into additive manufacturing workflows.
By embedding these processes into the company’s digital infrastructure, Lostboyslab provides customers with:
Real carbon data per part
Automated sustainability documentation
Future compliance with EU Ecodesign and DPP regulations
