Press release -
Stefan Larsson Returns as CEO of Lostboyslab Sweden and whatt.io AB to Lead a New Era of Circular Manufacturing
Vellinge, Sweden — September 8, 2025
Lostboyslab AB and whatt.io AB today announced key leadership changes and a renewed strategic focus on AI-driven circular manufacturing. Founder Stefan Larsson will immediately resume the role of CEO for both Lostboyslab Sweden and whatt.io AB.
These changes coincide with a larger transformation across the companies, as they strengthen their involvement in international and national research projects—such as the EU-funded CIRPASS-2 initiative and Sweden’s Vinnova-supported MCSR project—focused on the future of Digital Product Passports (DPPs), embedded NFC technologies, and automated additive manufacturing.
As part of this leadership transition:
Emil Nielsen will step down as CEO of Lostboyslab Sweden. He will support the upcoming relocation of the 3D printfarm from Löddeköpinge to Vellinge, as well as the full integration of SimplyPrint across the production platform, before moving on to pursue new opportunities in his career.
Peter Markenvard will leave whatt.io AB to focus on his new venture, AlgoWim.
Stefan Larsson will resume direct operational leadership in Sweden, while continuing in his role as Group CEO of whatt.io INC.
Lostboyslab’s Swedish operations will return to Vellinge, where the company will build a next-generation Autonomous Additive Factory, powered by AI, robotics, and whatt.io’s NFC-based digital infrastructure. A key innovation focus will be the integration of NFC tags into 3D printed casings—a critical step toward compliance with future DPP regulations.
“This isn’t just a shift in leadership—it's a shift toward the next frontier of sustainable production,” said Stefan Larsson. “With embedded intelligence, digital twins, and fully traceable production, we’re building the blueprint for local, circular manufacturing at scale.”
Highlights of the New Strategy:
Reduced focus on one-off prototyping and an increased push toward high-volume, automated additive manufacturing.
Seamless integration with SimplyPrint to manage production across Sweden, Miami, and Los Angeles via a unified cloud platform.
Development of new IoT devices and sensors that interface with whatt.io’s cloud-based Digital Product Passports, enabling traceability, secure ownership, and smarter maintenance.
Close alignment with CIRPASS-2 and MCSR efforts to establish European standards for DPP-enabled production and authentication.
By uniting physical products with their digital identities, and enabling smart, distributed manufacturing with full lifecycle visibility, Lostboyslab and whatt.io are paving the way toward a more intelligent and sustainable industrial future.
