DEERFIELD, Ill. – Jan. 17, 2018 – Mondelēz International today announced it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Forestry Commission of Ghana, Ghana Cocoa Board and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), reinforcing its commitment to reduce emissions in its cocoa supply chain across Ghana.

We were honoured to host two cocoa farmers from our sustainable cocoa sourcing programme, Cocoa Life, as well as Ghana’s Cocoa Life Director, on a four day visit to the UK in November. They got to see how their cocoa harvest is transformed into Cadbury chocolate and we got an insight into how Cocoa Life is helping whole communities to thrive.

• Company grew sustainably sourced cocoa to 35% of its global needs, reaching 120,500 farmers • Cocoa Life was expanded to more products, including the full Cadbury Dairy Milk line in the UK and Ireland as well as Oreo cookies in Europe • More than one million shade trees distributed in global effort on climate change

Mondelēz International has announced that from the end of March, the OREO brand in Europe will be covered by its industry leading sustainable cocoa sourcing programme, Cocoa Life. OREO packs will now begin to display the Cocoa Life logo, which will be present across the full range by the end of this year in Europe.

Juliana is a farmer and entrepreneur in eastern Ghana. Following some tough years on the farm she took part in the Cocoa Life training programme, and has since been able to turn her livelihood around. She is now able to support her children, her sister’s children and her parents, as well as help educate and empower other women in the community achieve their own success.
