Meet Jane, one of our Virgin Money London Marathon Runners

Name: Jane Partridge

Age: 43

From: Barnsley

Can you tell us a little about why you have chosen to run the London Marathon for The Sick Children’s Trust?

My sister-in-law Fiona told me about how supportive The Sick Children’s Trust were to her family. Treetop House has gone the extra-mile for her family and has meant they can all be together during this time. I want to do my bit to say thank you to The Sick Children’s Trust.

Have you been running long?

Around five years ago #I decided I wanted to get fitter so joined the gym, and then became a member of the Penistone Footpath Running Club around three years ago.

Why did you choose the London Marathon?

All of us at Penistone Footpath Running Club have been talking about doing it for ages, but no one has. So one day, I just decided to pop my name down and the next thing I knew I had been granted a club place! It’s a huge personal challenge, my first ever marathon, and a fantastic one to take on.

What’s been your biggest struggle while training?

Around January, February I had a real lull in motivation. I mentioned this to Fiona, and she said I know what you could do, you could run for this charity. She told me about all the support they’d given her brother’s family, and I then got my motivation back.

What will keep you going on your way round?

The support I have received from friends, family and the local community has been phenomenal and keeps me going and will be in my head the whole way round. I also had the honour of meeting Fiona’s nephew at Sheffield Children’s Hospital – thinking about his smiling face and what he’s battling will keep pushing me through each and every mile.
