Download AIC’s Welcome App for safe gluten-free dining during the Milano-Cortina Olympic Games
As international visitors arrive in Italy for the opening of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, people living with coeliac disease may ask how to access reliable, local guidance to help them eat safely while travelling.
For this reason, the Association of European Coeliac Societies (AOECS) highlights the availability of the AIC Welcome App, a dedicated visitor version of the Italian Coeliac Association’s mobile application. The app supports people with coeliac disease in finding restaurants, cafés and shops across Italy that offer safe gluten-free options.
Developed by the Associazione Italiana Celiachia (AIC), the Welcome App provides access to a curated network of food service operators that have been trained in gluten-free food safety and cross-contamination awareness. The app is specifically designed for travellers and does not require Italian residency or AIC membership.
“With thousands of visitors arriving from across Europe and beyond, access to clear and trustworthy information is essential,” says Veronica Rubio, Secretary General of AOECS. “Tools such as the AIC Welcome App help ensure that people with coeliac disease can fully enjoy their stay in Italy with greater confidence and peace of mind.”
The app is available for €3.99 in multiple languages and can be downloaded directly to a smartphone before or during a visit to Italy. It complements Italy’s long-standing commitment to improving awareness and safety around gluten-free food for people with coeliac disease.
For visitors attending the Olympic Games, downloading the AIC Welcome App ahead of time can be a useful part of travel preparation.
