Registration is now open for the ICOM General Conference 2025 in Dubai, themed “The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Communities.” The conference will gather global museum professionals on 11-17 November, offering networking events, workshops, and discussions on museum industry transformation.
ICOM and UNESCO have renewed their partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding, enhancing their commitment to cultural heritage protection, education, and technology integration. The renewed MoU sets the stage for joint initiatives, the exchange of expertise, and strengthened advocacy efforts on a global level.
This year's edition of the global initiative by the International Council of Museums (ICOM), the International Museum Day (IMD), has achieved remarkable participation worldwide, demonstrating the importance of museums as dynamic cultural hubs that foster community engagement, global dialogue, and sustainable development.
ICOM has established a new International Committee dedicated to Collections in Storage: ICOM STORAGE. This important step reflects the growing recognition of the essential role that museum storages play in the preservation, study, and accessibility of cultural heritage.
International Museum Day 2025, themed "The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Communities," will be celebrated on May 18th. This event emphasises museums' roles in fostering resilience, innovation, and inclusivity, aligning with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals and promoting social progress.
