DET Surpasses Previous Year's Values in Regasification Performance

At the beginning of December, Deutsche Energy Terminal GmbH (DET) published figures for the energy it fed into the German gas grid for the calendar year 2025. These figures show that, almost a month before the end of the year, the company had already fed more energy into the German gas grid than in the previous years. In recent years, DET was responsible for feeding in approximately 59 terawatt-hours of energy annually. This corresponds to about seven percent of Germany's total gas consumption.

Dr. Peter Röttgen, Managing Director of the federally owned company, explained that the terminals are operating at an above-average capacity compared to other European countries. By the end of November, more than 59 terawatt-hours of energy had already been fed into the German gas grid. This means that the final totals for 2023 and 2024 were already exceeded by the end of November 2025. He also explained that some reserve capacity remains, which is regularly offered to the market but must be offered at a minimum price for competitive reasons. However, these remaining quantities have not been in demand on the market recently and are not currently needed by traders.

Dr. Röttgen explained that the terminals are operating at an above-average capacity compared to other European countries. He emphasized that they were proud to be making a significant contribution to energy security in Germany and Europe through their work since the disruption of Russian gas supplies. This was not about record imports, but about securing the energy needs of industry, commerce, and households until alternative raw materials could meet these needs.
