eCap Marine Secures Two Major Orders for Hydrogen-Based Ship Propulsion Systems
eCap Marine has signed two groundbreaking contracts for the supply of emission-free hydrogen propulsion systems. The company is equipping two new short-sea container ships with fuel cell solutions for the Norwegian logistics group Samskip. Furthermore, the shipping company Møre Sjø is relying on eCap Marine's hydrogen systems for the construction of two 85-meter-long bulk carriers that will operate emission-free in the Norwegian fjords. Both projects are scheduled for delivery by 2027.
The systems ordered include hydrogen-based PEM fuel cells with outputs ranging from 1.7 to 3.2 megawatts, as well as customized safety systems, marine electronics, and interfaces to the ship's power supply. The scope of supply also includes hydrogen tanks and an integrated bunkering system on board. With these references, eCap Marine is underscoring its pioneering role in the development of scalable hydrogen propulsion solutions for shipping.
"These projects represent a significant milestone for eCap Marine and for the maritime energy transition. We thank Samskip and Møre Sjø for their trust in our technology and our team, who are working with great engineering spirit to realize emission-free propulsion systems", says Lars Ravens, Managing Director of eCap Marine.
