Conrad Laursen Targets ELMS Podium at Imola
Fresh off a stunning class victory in the 24 Hours of Spa, Conrad Laursen is ready to chase another top result in the third round of the European Le Mans Series at Imola this weekend.
The 19-year-old Dane reached a new career milestone last weekend with a class win in the legendary 24-hour race at Belgium’s Spa-Francorchamps. Now, he’s aiming to carry that momentum into round three of the European Le Mans Series, which takes place this weekend at the historic Imola circuit in Italy.
While Laursen secured his Spa triumph with Swiss outfit Kessel Racing, he competes in the ELMS with Italian team AF Corse, sharing a Ferrari 296 GT3 with Davide Rigon and Charles-Henri Samani. The trio finished fifth in both of the season’s opening rounds and are now eyeing a stronger result on home soil.
“Imola is, of course, a fantastic place to be when you’re a Ferrari driver racing for an Italian team. It’s an amazing track – classic and old-school – and with loads of passionate Ferrari fans in the grandstands. Our preparations have gone well so far, and I’m really looking forward to a weekend where we can hopefully fight for the win,” says Conrad Laursen.
The young Dane has already made his mark as one of the rising stars in European sports car racing. In his 2023 debut season, he claimed a podium with Formula Racing in his very first race at just 17 years old and has since collected four podiums – including a race win – in the highly competitive championship.
“The first two rounds this year have been disappointing. We had the pace for a podium – maybe even a win – in both races, but we threw it away due to unfortunate mistakes. That’s why our full focus this weekend is on running a clean race. The whole team is absolutely determined to bring home a podium,” Laursen adds.
Round three of the European Le Mans Series kicks off with qualifying on Saturday, July 5 at 14:30, with the four-hour race going green on Sunday, July 6 at 12:00. The race will be streamed live on YouTube.
