GTWC: Bastian Buus aiming for podium return at Misano

Following a strong season opener, Bastian Buus is determined to return to the podium as the second round of the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup takes place this weekend at Misano Circuit.

The Danish Porsche factory driver is back with Lionspeed GP, once again helping the team in its bid for the Sprint Cup title in the Bronze category. After an impressive start to the campaign, Buus is now aiming for more silverware.

The season began on a high in Zandvoort, where Buus secured overall pole position and went on to claim a class victory – a result that currently places Lionspeed GP second in the Bronze Cup standings.

“Our goal this weekend is to repeat what we achieved in the Netherlands earlier this year and score the extra points we need to move to the top of the table,” says Bastian Buus. “It’s been a few years since I last raced at Misano, but fortunately, we’ve had an extra practice session this weekend to get back up to speed with the track.”

Buus will once again share the cockpit with teammate Bashar Mardini as the pair prepares for another double-header of action-packed 60-minute sprint races.

“A strong weekend would be the perfect way to bounce back from the disappointment at Spa-Francorchamps,” the Dane adds. “For the team, it’s all about keeping the momentum going and collecting as many points as possible.”

Round six of the GT World Challenge Europe – and round two of the Sprint Cup for Bronze teams – takes place on Saturday, July 19, and Sunday, July 20, with race starts at 20:15 and 14:45 (CEST), respectively. Both races will be streamed live on YouTube.
