Magnussen Back on Form: Seventh Place at Silverstone
The Danish GB4 talent secured his second-best result of the season at Silverstone Circuit, with a seventh-place finish underlining his progress in the highly competitive junior championship.
After missing a round of the GB4 Championship due to a hospital visit, Luca Magnussen returned in top form for the fifth round at the legendary Silverstone Circuit. The 15-year-old racing talent capped off the weekend with a seventh-place finish – his second-best result in the tough junior series following his podium at Oulton Park earlier this year.
“I’m really happy and very satisfied with the result. It was a wet and challenging race, but I feel strong in the rain, and it was great to finish so high after starting outside the top ten,” said Luca Magnussen.
The weekend didn’t start as positively for the young Dane, who had contact with two of his teammates during qualifying. This incident hampered his pace in Saturday afternoon’s opening race, where the car’s performance was not at its best.
“It was a big mistake and something that shouldn’t happen. But the team worked hard and got the car ready for Sunday, where things went really well in the second race with a seventh-place finish,” explained Magnussen.
“The third and final race also ended on a positive note. I started from 12th, lost a few positions at the start, but then fought my way back and had just broken into the top ten when the race was red-flagged and ended.”
“All in all, it was a really good weekend apart from the qualifying incident. It felt fantastic to be back in the car and perform so well despite having missed a round and a lot of track time. The development is definitely moving in the right direction. A big thanks to the whole team,” Magnussen concluded.
The sixth round of the GB4 Championship takes place at Brands Hatch on August 24–25.
