Mikkel Jensen scores WEC points in Brazil
Seventh place for Mikkel Jensen and Paul Di Resta in round five of this year’s FIA World Endurance Championship at Interlagos Circuit, as the French team secured its best result of the 2025 season so far.
The competition was fierce, but Mikkel Jensen and Paul Di Resta managed to bring home valuable world championship points for Team Peugeot TotalEnergies in this weekend’s six-hour race at Interlagos Circuit in São Paulo, Brazil. The duo, racing without their regular third driver Jean-Éric Vergne, secured a seventh-place finish – their best result of the season to date.
“It was a good weekend. Our pace was solid, although not quite on the level of Porsche, BMW and Cadillac, who were fighting at the front this time. It was a race all about managing the tyres and not pushing them too hard. I had a strong first stint where we gained a position, but my second stint was a lot shorter as I fought a bit too hard with a Porsche, which caused excessive tyre wear,” said Mikkel Jensen.
While both qualifying and the race in São Paulo were dominated by Cadillac – and not Ferrari, who, for a rare occasion, finished outside the top 10 with both factory cars – the two Peugeot 9X8s consistently ran in the upper half of the field. On the very first lap, Mikkel Jensen moved up to fifth place and completed his first pit stop from fourth.
“Even though racing with just two drivers isn’t ideal in many ways, it did give us more individual driving time in practice, and also more flexibility when planning our stints,” added the Dane.
With a seventh-place finish for Jensen and Di Resta, and a sixth-place result for their teammates in the sister car, both of Peugeot’s factory entries finished in the points – for the first time since the semi-final round in 2024.
“Hats off to the entire team for a really strong effort this weekend. Getting both cars into the top 10 is a massive boost for everyone, and now it’s all about carrying that momentum into the next round.”
While the world championship heads into its summer break before round six at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, in early September, Mikkel Jensen will be back behind the wheel in just three weeks’ time. He returns to action for round five of the American LMP2 Championship at Road America in Wisconsin.
