NLS3: Bastian Buus Ready for Preparation Race at the Nürburgring

The 24-hour race at the Nürburgring is approaching for the Danish Porsche driver, who will take part in the third round of the Nürburgring Endurance Series with the Dinamic GT team this weekend.

Earlier this week, Bastian Buus was confirmed for the legendary 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, where he will serve as the third driver in one of the Pro-class entries, supporting Porsche’s bid for overall victory. But before the Belgian classic, Buus will return to action at another world-renowned endurance event – the 24 Hours of Nürburgring – where he will also compete for Porsche in the top category.

Such a challenge demands preparation, and this weekend’s four-hour race – round three of the Nürburgring Endurance Series – is all about getting the Dane and his teammates ready for the task. It’s about tire testing and data collection as Buus lines up for the Pirelli-supported Dinamic GT team alongside Joel Sturm and Loek Hartog.

“Nothing is being held back – especially not when it comes to preparation. Three drivers might seem like a lot for a four-hour race, but both Joel and Loek need seat time, so all three of us are driving this weekend. We’re taking every opportunity to train, and the main purpose of racing in the NLS series is precisely the chance to gather data,” says Bastian Buus.

In addition to gaining more familiarity with the car and collecting data, the team will also be testing a new type of tire this weekend. Several drivers have been behind the wheel of Dinamic GT’s Porsche 911 GT3 R during the spring, but Buus has been the consistent presence in all NLS rounds to ensure continuity and consistent reference points from race to race.

This year’s 24-hour race at the Nürburgring takes place on June 21–22, where Bastian Buus will team up with Matteo Cairoli, Joel Sturm, and Loek Hartog. The quartet will compete in the Pro category. Before then, the team will have another chance to prepare with two more four-hour races – the ADAC 24h Qualifiers – during the weekend of May 24–25.

“Of curse we’re racing for a good result this weekend, and of course we’re hoping for a better run than last time, where a puncture unfortunately took us out of contention. But again – it’s mostly about preparation, and we’re fully focused on coe the race and gathering as much data as possible so we’re in the best possible shape for the 24-hour race next month,” the Dane adds.

The third round of the Nürburgring Endurance Series goes green on Saturday, May 10 at 12:00 CET and can be followed live on YouTube.
