Sebastian Øgaard Secures Another GTWC podium at Misano

Sebastian Øgaard claimed his fifth podium finish of the season with a third place in this weekend’s round of the GT World Challenge Europe at Misano World Circuit.

The Danish driver continued his strong run of top results in GT World Challenge Europe, taking another podium in the Gold Cup class of the prestigious European GT3 championship. Øgaard and teammate Leonardo Moncini secured third place in Saturday evening’s opening sprint race, followed by a close fifth place on Sunday.

But the weekend’s results didn’t come without a fight. During qualifying for Saturday’s race, Øgaard was held up by a blocking Porsche but still managed to secure fifth on the starting grid. In the race itself, he was hit from behind by an eager rival and lost positions after a spin – while the Audi duo had to start Sunday’s race from the very back of the 43-car GT3 field after a tough qualifying session for Moncini.

“This was a solid sprint weekend with another podium and some valuable points for the championship. At the same time, it’s a bit disappointing, as we had the potential to achieve so much more. We had really strong pace this time, and being pushed off the track in the first race might have cost us our first win,” said Sebastian Øgaard.

“Sunday’s race was an uphill battle from the start, but again our pace was strong, and we managed to gain several positions. The further we moved up the field, the tougher it got, and fifth place was the best we could get out of it,” the Dane added.

“I’m really happy with my own performance, and I also want to thank the team for giving us a great car this weekend. Now it’s all about keeping up the momentum and minimizing mistakes and bad luck for the remainder of the championship.”

Next up for Sebastian Øgaard, Leonardo Moncini and the entire Tresor Competition team is already next week, when round seven of GT World Challenge Europe – and the fourth round of the Sprint Cup – takes place at Magny-Cours in France, August 2–3.
